- Carbomer940 / carbopol940 is a white powder, crosslinked polyacrylic acid polymer. It is an extremely efficient rheology modifier capable of providing high viscosity and forms sparkling clear gels or hydro-alcoholic gels and creams. Its short flow, non-drip properties are ideal for applications such as clear gels, hydroalcoholic gels, and creams.
- Polyvinyl carboxy polymer crosslinked with ethers of pentaerythritol. Used as a viscosity enhancer or gelling agent primarily in systems where clarity or viscosity is required.
- Application: :carbomers is safe in a wide variety of product types including skin care, hair, nail, and makeup products, as well as dentifrices. It's also best for ultrasound gel.
- Diy gel making method: typical use level 0.1-0.5% depending on the type of formulation desired viscosity. Carbomer must be thoroughly mixed with hand grinder and hydrated. Increasing the ph to >6.0, gives a gel structure. Neutralization can be carried out with inorganic bases such as naoh or koh or triethanolamine (tea). For external use only.
